PATIENT INFORMATION:

✓ 33 year old, NW III-V, with a history of hair loss in his family (father and grandfather on his mother’s side)

✓ No treatment followed

✓ Thick hair caliber

✓ Very good quality follicular units

✓ High percentage of hair in telogen phase (falling out)

RECOMMENDED TYPE OF INTERVENTION

We present below another case of FUE surgery.

This 33-year-old patient had started losing hair at the age of 24. At the time of the preoperative consultation his degree of baldness was classifiable within III and IV of the Norwood scale; despite the fact that videodermoscopy revealed a high degree of miniaturization in the recipient area, the patient did not want to start any pharmacological treatment to stop the hair loss.

Taking this factor and the patient’s family history of hair loss into consideration, I advised the patient to focus on the hairline and frontal area. Considering the fact that the patient wished to wear his hair short in the donor area, we decided to perform a FUE using only follicular units from the scalp.

In June 2020 the patient received 2258 FUE grafts in a single day of surgery. The result was already evident at 6 months, as can be appreciated in the photos below. The patient recently sent another photo showing the final result, 1 year after surgery.

We hope to meet the patient again in the clinic so that we can provide better quality photographs of the final result.

✓ Selection and extraction of follicular units performed with the WAW system, conceived and designed by Dr. Devroye and now widely used in the field of FUE. It consists of a very precise pedal to control the movement of the punch, also designed by the Doctor. The advantage of the WAW system is that it substantially reduces the number of damaged hairs or hairs undergoing transection, thus increasing the quality of the procedure. The system is currently used by hundreds of surgeons worldwide.
