Dr. Wong 4287 U.F. Strip
A 55-year-old patient from Vancouver who had widespread baldness on the entire scalp without a significantly worse area than the others.
Pre-operative photos may not correctly reveal the extent of miniaturization but it is possible to see a substantial difference in the hairline and crown area.
Cases of diffuse alopecia (DPA – Diffuse pattern alopecia in English) especially for patients with fine hair can be particularly problematic.
The key factors to achieve an excellent result in these cases are:
– Preserve existing hairs, working among them with skill to try not to damage them with incisions.
– Advise the patient to follow a treatment with finasteride to maintain native hair
– Use an important number of follicular units to cover a fairly large area of scalp.
Dr. Wong and his team implanted 4287 follicular units via strip (FUT), 790 singles, 2369 doubles and 1128 from 3-4 hairs.
Post-operative photos show the result at 10 months.
The patient is being treated with Proscar.
